A CREATIONS workshop for teachers was hosted in the framework of the 10th national conference of ENEFET (Society of Science & Technology Education in Greece), which was held in Rethymno (Crete) from 7th to 9th of April 2017.
Eleven pre service primary teachers and three physics teachers participated in the workshop. The participants practiced communicating complex science concepts in a creative way by using art (e.g., acting, drawing, music, etc.), in order to raise students’ interest in science and introduce them to creative thinking.
In particular, teachers prepared a short performance based on a subject matter chosen from the field of particle physics (accelerated particles collision- detecting ghost particles). Then they were introduced to the concept of “sonification” of scientific data.
Finally the content of the delivered workshop was uploaded on an online ODS community, that was created in order to act as a connection point for the participants teachers of the workshop, as well for future users.
